A heartwarming story about a girl whose dreams finally come true, read by Finty Williams

On the face of it, Beauty is lucky. She has a mum and dad who love her, lives in a lovely house and goes to a posh girls’ school. But for shy, awkward Beauty, the reality is miserable. She isn’t a beauty, and the snobby girls at school have nicknamed her Ugly.

Her mum is completely downtrodden by Beauty’s fierce-tempered bully of a father. Beauty would give anything for a pet, but her dad won’t hear of it in case it messes up their pristine house. After Beauty’s birthday party is ruined by her dad’s temper, her mum finally realises that they can’t go on living with him.

They pack their bags and move to the seaside, where their new-found freedom and a moment of culinary inspiration give them a hobby, an income and a new nickname for Beauty. And to crown it all, she finds herself invited to take part in a popular children’s TV show.
